You’re engaged to be married and it’s time to start preparing your wedding plan. One of the first things to come to a decision on is whether to plan your wedding yourself of employ the services of a qualified wedding planner (wedding coordinator). If you are planning a big or particularly lavish wedding the assistance of a wedding planner can be valuable. Planning your wedding should be enjoyable, so ensure you leave ample time to take pleasure in planning your wedding when setting the date.

1st Wedding Plans
Set the date
Decide on a Wedding Budget.
Think about the style of wedding you would like.
Employ a wedding planner if you have decided to.
Select the priest, celebrant or registry office.
Select your wedding party
Write a guest list so you can approximate numbers for reception.
Choose your wedding reception venue and book.
Book and equipment required – seats, marquee, etc.

Start shopping for your bridal gown, dressmaker & bridal accessories.
Shop for suits and dresses for the wedding party and organize fittings.
Reserve the wedding transportation - cars, horse and carriage, limousines, etc.
Choose and book the photographer and videographer.

Order and send save the date cards to out of town guests

3 Months Before
Order wedding invitations and stationery.
Decide if you want to include a gift registry card with your invitations and arrange
Select and order your wedding cake.
Arrange passport, visas, inoculations etc your honeymoon is overseas.
Organize a Master of Ceremonies.
Address and send
wedding invitations.
Choose a florist and your wedding flowers.
Select music or musicians for the wedding ceremony.
Book reception music and entertainment.

Choose your wedding rings.

2 Months Before
Give notice of intent to marry to wedding official at least one full month and no more than 6 months in prior to the wedding date.
Organize wedding ceremony rehearsal.
Mail your invitations if you haven't already.
Ensure you have all your bridal accessories i.e. veil, tiara, Garter, lingerie
Arrange your honeymoon and travel insurance.
Consider wedding insurance.

6 Weeks Before
Confirm reception venue and any other bookings. .
Confirm wedding flowers with the florist.
Work out a system for tracking your RSVP’s.
Plan hen's and buck's nights.
Purchase gifts for wedding party.
Prepare your wedding speeches.
Purchase disposable cameras.
Choose bonbonniere, place cards, table stationery and thank you card.

4 Weeks Before
Advise venues of estimated guest numbers.
Confirm minister / celebrant.
Have a hairstyle and make-up rehearsal.
Final bridal gown fitting.
Finalize details with the photographer.
Finalize wedding party clothes and fittings.
Update your guest list
start writing thank you cards.

Arrange beverages or set budget with reception venue
Confirm honeymoon and travel insurance details.

2 Weeks Before
Ensure all final fittings for wedding clothes a done and garments collected.
Make sure the wedding party are prepared for their duties.
Finalize guest numbers and confirm with the reception venue caterers.
Confirm hairdresser and makeup artist.
Create reception seating plan.
Finalize place cards.
Have something old, Something new, something borrowed & something blue.
Plan honeymoon clothes.

1 Week Before
Have some time to yourself before the guest start arriving in town.
Finalize all and confirm ALL arrangements and bookings.
Have a final wedding rehearsal.
Check of all garments and accessories are ready.
Pack a bridal emergency kit for the day.
Layout your bridal gown, lingerie and accessories (you will sleep better).
Check you have gifts wrapped and ready for the bridal party.
Finalize your clothes for the honeymoon.
Leave at least a few days spare to relax.
Get a massage, pamper yourself, have your nails done. (Avoid facial treatments they can cause pimples)
