What is a Save the Date card?
A Save the Date Card are used to inform your close friends and family of your future wedding, to help ensure they will be able to celebrate with you. They are particularly helpful if many guests will be travelling to your wedding, your wedding is on or near a holiday, or you are having a destination wedding. They are also just a fun way to announce your wedding to your friends and family.

Who gets a Save the Date card?
It is not necessary to send Save the Date cards to everyone on your guest list. Most brides choose to send them only to close family and friends, particularly any who will have to travel. That way you will leave yourself some flexibility when it comes time to actually choose the guest list later on. You do NOT want to send a Save the Date to someone who will not get a wedding invitation!

When do I send a Save the Date Card?
Save the date cards are generally sent 4-12 months before the wedding. You can send them any time after the date and location are finalized, but generally, at least 4 months before your wedding date.

What kind of Save the Date Card should I send?
Save the date cards are rarely as formal as wedding invitations. Magnets are a very popular Save the Date format. A popular option is to include a photo of the two of you; we have many styles like this in both card and magnet form. Many designs feature a calendar of the month of your marriage. Antonia Rose Printing has a large selection of Save the Date cards, a few of which are pictured here.

What do I write on my Save the Date Cards?
Your Save the date cards should state both of your names, the date of the wedding and the city and state where the wedding is to be held, and a notice that the invitation will follow. If you have a wedding website, you may want to include that URL as well.   Along with the Save the Date cards, it might be helpful to provide guests with additional information about hotels, rental cars, and other services they may need in order to attend your wedding.
